1. Quality Control & Acceptance Standards

Precision Testing: All stretcher bars built by Eth Canvas undergo three mandatory quality checks prior to dispatch:
1. Diagonal Precision Measurement: Cross-diagonals are measured down to the millimeter to guarantee mathematical squareness.
2. Multi-Surface Flatness Check: Frames are tested across multiple precision workbench surfaces to verify zero propeller twist.
3. Timber Grain Inspection: Timber is pre-screened for grain integrity and structural stability.
Tolerances: Custom timber frames are built to industry-standard tolerances. Minor natural wood variations that do not affect structural integrity or squareness fall within acceptable production standards.

2. Client Quality Claims, Returns & Verification Procedure

Notification Window: Any claim regarding size, squareness, or frame defect must be reported in writing within 48 hours of delivery.
On-Site Verification Exercise: Before a return or remake is authorized, the client must perform and submit the Precision Diagonal Measurement Test (measuring cross-diagonals from the 10 cm mark) accompanied by clear photographs showing both measurements.
Factory Inspection & Billing for False Claims: If a client requests that a stretcher be collected or returned to the factory for inspection, it will undergo our standard 3-surface diagnostic test.
- If a manufacturing defect is found: Eth Canvas will repair, remake, or adjust the frame at zero charge.
- If the frame is verified to be mathematically square and flat: The claim will be deemed invalid (attributed to wall surface irregularities, uneven canvas tension, or improper hanging). The client will be billed for all associated costs, including driver collection fees, factory diagnostic/workshop time, and redelivery fees, prior to the frame being released back to them.

Surface Realities: Eth Canvas guarantees that stretcher frames leave the factory mathematically square and flat. We do not guarantee that a frame will sit flush against un-true, uneven, or non-planar wall surfaces.
Recommended Installation Methods:
- Floating corners caused by plaster irregularities should be stabilized using standard picture-hanging shims or self-adhesive felt wall bumpers.
- Large canvases must be hung using side-mounted D-rings or picture wire to distribute weight evenly and prevent top-rail leverage points.

Easel Support: Canvases are designed to be painted on when secured to a stable studio easel. Eth Canvas accepts no liability for frame movement, flex, or rocking when an unmounted canvas is worked on while resting directly against a wall.
Tension & Media Pull: Unequal tension during hand-stretching or severe shrinking during gesso/paint drying can exert asymmetrical force on timber. Flex caused by fabric/paint application is not considered a timber manufacturing defect.

Deliveries are scheduled for designated time windows. If a client is unavailable during the agreed delivery window, a re-delivery fee will be billed.
